January 2006

Greetings from New Mexico

First and foremost, we hope you had a great holiday season and wish you only the best for the New Year. Here in New Mexico, we are in great need of snow. If you have a little extra, please send it our way.

This is the time of year when new products are introduced and, yes, prices seem to go up. So this newsletter is about new products, how you can save before the new prices take effect, getting ready for Valentine's Day, and a little incentive to place that order now.

Let's start with the new issues. There is real excitement about Lladro's new edition of The Kiss. As our title implies, the kiss endures. As a special incentive, buy The Kiss between now and Valentine's Day and receive the Talismania "Lucky Heart" as a free gift (while supplies last, of course). The new edition of The Kiss stands 13.5 inches high and is Lladro's interpretation of Klimt's painting. It's truly beautiful and will endure a lot longer than flowers or chocolates for Valentine's Day. Or, use the Lucky Heart for Valentine's and cache The Kiss for a really special occasion. Lucky Heart itself is an elegant gift. You can see them both here:

Another great introduction is The Emperor's Table collect. It is executed in blue glaze finish and black matte. This collection represents the Lladró lifestyle based on functional beauty: objects which are beautiful and at once functional and useful. It consists of 7 items, conceived for table ornamentation, whether as desk objects or as accessories for dinner services. To see these seven pieces executed in two different finishes, click here:

There are 34 other pieces being introduced, limited editions, Privilege sculptures, and open editions. It is exciting to note that there are two new doctors, male and female, two other gift sets, and a Quixote Mural. If you have been collecting Lladró for a long time, you are aware of what I think of as a signature piece depicting Don Quixote in a chair with a book in his lap and a sword in his right hand, arm drooping over the arm rest. As a point of interest, it is a sword - swords are straight and sabers are curved. This piece is Lladró number 01030, first introduced in 1969, and carries a price of $1600.00. The new mural rendition conveys the same emotions and feelings, but is prices at $860.00. When Lladró first introduced the murals and Maria and I saw them only in pictures, we were skeptical. Then we saw them and said wow, these are really beautiful.

Another series in the new issues that I find particularly striking is Balance. A collection of eight new sculptures depicting the tiger, goat, elephant and seal (two each), these pieces standout in their uniqueness and make statements about their owners.

I can go on about this great series of new introductions for spring 2006, but what I like best will not necessarily agree with your preferences. So visit the introductions by clicking here:

Turning to Lladró Privilege, the third and last sculpture in the Mediterranean Beauty series is Flowers for a Goddess. We are having an introductory open house in our store on March 4th and you are invited. Since this letter goes around the world, we recognize that that may be difficult, but you can see Flowers for a Goddess and reserve your sculpture here:

Next, there are 10 new pieces in Talismania. Two of these are previous editions now executed in silver. The other eight include Lucky Heart, Peace Mandala, and Gothic Cross. We also have a couple of the special edition Waterdrops still available in case you missed it during the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. You can see all of the Talismania pieces here (hint - these make great Valentine's Day gifts):

Yes, we also have some specials. I tried to make both some Lladró and Nambe selections that would allow me to describe the selections as eclectic. You will have to determine if I succeeded. Check them out at this location:

Not much has been mentioned so far about Nambe. There are some great heart bowls and vases for those dozen roses. But you might also want to start thinking about those spring weddings. You can make you selections and print out that wish list. Then give us a call to establish a registry. You can browse Nambe-only here:

Finally, we know it's the start of the year and some incentive is needed to act now. Rising prices don't work as an incentive because we are inured to it. So we need a super incentive. Enter the following in for the discount code:

Super incentive

During the check out process and get a very good surprise. If you don't like the discount, don't send the order. Two conditions, the discount surprise is only good for orders of $100.00 or more and the incentive lasts only through January 31.

Well that’s it for this newsletter. What follows is the usual information about subscribing or unsubscribing. So ‘til next time Think Lladro Think Nambe.
