Greetings from New Mexico As this is being written, our web site calendar shows 125 days until Christmas. Football is about to start and the smell of roasting chile is in the air here in New Mexico. Labor Day will be here soon and the children are returning to school. A lot is going on as we are writing this newsletter, mainly about Lladró. To make it a bit more interesting, further down in the newsletter is a secret code that you can use between now and Labor Day to get 10 percent off your order of $100.00 or more - even the specials. We have posted 90 new specials on the web site which can be seen here: http://www.andrewsgallery.com/Specials1.htm A broad spectrum of figurines has been included and even a representation of Talismania. With the secret code to be given later, you might just find that special Christmas present early this year. You can also see the Lladró fall 2008 new issues. These have been broken down into five groupings. First are the additions to the classic line. Among these pieces is the new addition to the Chinese Zodiac, The Ox. Another spectacular sculpture is perfect for the holidays - Santa's Midnight Ride - a limited edition. And for sports fans, the are the three elephants engaged in soccer, basketball, and football. As individual present possibilities, the price represents great value at modest cost. You can see all of these pieces and the rest (almost) of the classic introductions here: http://www.andrewsgallery.com/Intros%20-%20Classic.htm Notice that "almost" was used above. That's because there are several pieces for fall introduction that won't be available for shipment until the end of September. But you can order them now and be at the head of the shipment queue when they arrive from Europe. Included is a piece depicting two children playing soccer and well as a new series about the family. My favorite is "Bright Eyes," a beautiful bust of a charming lady. You can see them all here: http://www.andrewsgallery.com/add-ons.htm The annual Lladró Christmas bells and balls are now available, plus a matching lithophane in both the traditional and the Re-Deco lines. What's a lithophane? Glad you asked! Quoting from the Blair Museum of Lithophanes web site, "The Greek origin of the work means 'light in stone' or to 'appear in stone'." You can read all about them here: http://www.lithophanemuseum.org/what_is_a_lithophane.htm The lithophanes could solve a great deal of your holiday gift requirements with something unusual and beautiful. At $60.00 for the classic and $70.00 for the Re-Deco, you have a unique present that captures the warmth of the holiday season. Bells, balls, and lithophanes - they are all here: http://www.andrewsgallery.com/Bells%20and%20Balls.htm Moving on, the Re-Deco line has completed the Lladró Nativity in Re-Deco. For those of you unfamiliar with Lladró Re-Deco, Lladró has taken several of its classic pieces and redecorated them in the white of the hard paste porcelain highlighted with silver, gold, and other trace colors. The result is a collection of figurines perfect for the more contemporary look, but also beautiful in any décor. You can view them here and judge for yourself: http://www.andrewsgallery.com/Intros%20-%20Re-Deco.htm All of the Re-Deco Nativity pieces can be found on the Lladró Nativities page that also includes the classic and gres nativities as well as other selections of the Holy Family. They are located here: http://www.andrewsgallery.com/nativities.htm Getting back to the introductions, Lladró has a series called Innovation, which can be seen here: http://www.andrewsgallery.com/Intros%20-%20Innovation.htm Two selections immediately caught my eye - "Beginnings" and "Swimmer," both completely in white. "Beginnings" is a mother and child. Here at Andrews Gallery we have always been drawn to this type of sculpture (Maria's influence). And since we have been watching Michael Phelps set Olympic records in swimming, "Swimmer" stands out. What this really points out is that Lladró figurines often have a personal relationship with their owners, and everyone views them from their personal perspective. Check out the Innovation introductions here: http://www.andrewsgallery.com/Intros%20-%20Innovation.htm Finally, you can view the Naturofantastic introductions here: http://andrewsgallery.com/Intros%20-%20Naturofantastic.htm To quote Lladró, Naturofantastic is "An imaginary universe where the organic and fantasy are combined to create everyday objects such as lamps, vases, candelabra, bowls... Familiar forms are decorated with marine and vegetal motifs conjured up in the imagination of Lladró artists. Sometimes, the delicacy of white porcelain is further highlighted with grey, green or blue tones. On other occasions, the decoration in white or with gold luster combines gloss and matte finishes. An evocative journey to the dreamlike side of nature." Okay, okay. Here's the secret code to enter when you check out: Labor Day Enter it just as shown and you will receive 10 percent off on orders of $100.00 or more plus free shipping in the United States. This is a good time to make that list of presents you absolutely have to have and order them! All of the pressure will then be off, allowing you to fully enjoy the fall season, avoid the Thanksgiving crowds on "Black Friday," and relax as the holidays approach. All you have to do is remember where you hide them. Best regards, Andrews Gallery |
